    Hooters of Orange Park and San Jose combined their annual swimsuit contest and held it at the San Jose location. The contest featured 18 girls with the top 5 from each restaurant advancing to the Hooters North Florida Finals at the Jacksonville Landing on May 31st. Amber was crowned Miss Hooters of Orange Park and Lauren was crowned Miss Hooters of San Jose. The event was MC’d by DJ B-Roc and music was provided by Streetworx Music . Photos by Mike Maano

    Country music singer/songwriter Martina McBride's Waking Up Laughing Tour came to Jacksonville Saturday night.Thousands turned out to enjoy the concert on April 19th at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Opening acts were Jack Ingram and Little Big Town.

    The 9-2 Florida Falcons defeated the West Coast Bears 21-14 in the Florida Football Alliance playoffs to advance to the conference championship game against the 11-0 Bradenton Gladiators. Coached by Dahryll Brown, the Falcons scored on two Daniel Cooper touchdown receptions, a Matt Hernandez interception return for a touchdown and a 40-yard Mason Peace field goal. The game was held at Clay High School’s C.W. Bowles Stadium.

    Hooters at The Jacksonville Landing held their annual Green Bikini Contest and invited the other Hooters restaurants to join the party. Twenty-four girls competed for the prize as DJ B-Roc from Streetworx Muzic MC'd the event. In the end, Haley from Orange Park Hooters was crowned Miss Green Bikini 2008.

    The Crazy Horse Complex in Orange Park held their annual Green Bikini Contest in Club Liquid as ten beautiful bikini models competed in Venus Swimwear outfits for over eleven hundred dollars in prize money as J.R. from KISS FM MC'd. HIN and PM model "Cat" celebrated her birthday on stage with her fellow models as a fascinated crowd of onlookers ogled the proceedings.

    The Orange Park boys basketball team faced the Winter Springs Bears in the FHSAA 6A Regional Finals after defeating Mandarin 57-52 in the 6A Regional Semifinals. The 5th ranked Raiders couldn't make up the 42-31 deficit after the 1st half and lost to the 3rd ranked Bears 74-67 to finish at 27-3 for the season. Photos by Mike Maano

    The Orange Park boys basketball team advanced to the Regional Finals after defeating Mandarin 57-52 in the 6A Regional Semifinals. The Raiders were led in scoring by Jerome Clyburn's 21 points, including three 3 pointers and P.J. Gaynor scored a game high 25 points in a losing effort for the Mustangs. Orange Park will host the Regional Finals on Saturday against Winter Springs who won their semifinal game 83-64 against Winter Park.

    The FHSAA State Wrestling Finals were held in Lakeland from Feb. 14-16th. Wrestlers from around the state competed in their respective 3A, 2A and 1A classifications. Riverdale dominated 1A, scoring 185 points followed by Jupiter Christian with 83, Clay with 78.5 and Suwannee with 74. Brandon won its eigth consecutive title in 2A with 232.5 points, followed by Palmetto Ridge with 174, Manatee with 160.5 and Gainesville with 96. In 3A South Dade took the title with 189 points, followed by Osceola with 111.5, Oviedo with 84.5 and American with 82.5.
     Wortham To Run For Clay Superintendent (More Photos)

    Recently retired Clay County Deputy School Superintendent Ben Wortham, 62, officially declared on Tues., Jan. 22 that he will run for the superintendent's position after the recent announcement that Superintendent David Owens will not run this year. Owens and Wortham worked together for the past 11 years. Wortham has been in the Clay County School District since 1968. Wortham had retired on May 31, 2007 and resisted urges to run for the top spot out of respect for Owens promising to keep him as his deputy when Owens won his position 11 years ago. Wortham was joined at the Supervisor of Elections office in Green Cove Springs for his announcement by his wife, Sylvia, who is a part time school secretary at Orange Park Elementary School.

    The Florida Department of Health, in conjunction with the Step Up, FLorida! Healthy Communities Program, will be staging its Second Annual Step Up 5Km and One Mile Running Races on Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. at Spring Park in Green Cove Springs, FL. Both races are free to all runners with plenty of free STUFF including a raffle for two airline tickets from Southwest Airlines for all finishers, free travel coffee cups, and a free T-Shirt.

Early voting started January 14 and lasts until Jan. 26. Election day is January 29.

    Forrest High School hosted their annual wrestling invitational featuring the top teams in North Florida and beyond. This year's event was no exception as Suwannee HS edged out Clay and Ridgeview to take the 1st place team trophy. Garrett Soileau from Clay HS was voted Outstanding Wrestler for the tournament by the Coaches.

His name is Tim Tebow and these are my selected pictures of Tebow from 2004-2005 and from the FL/GA and FL/FSU games.
