San Francisco Half Marathon
18 photos
Kristie Matherne and Maria Littlejohn, two Clay County running friends, flew to the west coast to participate in the The Peaks and Valleys of the San Francisco Half Marathon. The current course forms a loop that starts and finishes on the Embarcadero near the Ferry Building. The course includes running past many notable landmarks in San Francisco and crossing the Golden Gate Bridge.
Matherne: "As we ascended up to the Golden Gate Bridge there were trivia signs about the steepest hill in San Francisco. We felt like we were on it, but we were wrong. Finally…The Golden Gate Bridge! What we had been waiting for! It was foggy on the bridge but not as windy as we had anticipated (Thank Goodness!) and we had purchased our trusty runner's wraps to keep us warm. We posed at the top of the bridge for photos and took some of others as well. The bridge was awesome- all we expected and more." Matherne, 27, a personal fitness instructor, and Littlejohn, 38, a Ridgeview High School teacher, finished in two hours, 23 minutes, 46 seconds. These are their photos.
